Perhaps you can join us most mornings as we find ourselves saying “I Need Coffee!”
At the moment, we’re actually enjoying a lazier afternoon, freed from the office high rise… so we’re actually enjoying a delightful cup of tea. mmmmm.
Sometimes it’s hard for us to just relax and completely ignore the ever-constant to-do list; the social calendar living in the Bay Area is often far more overwhelming than the work calendar. This is not me complaining. OK. So, it’s not a bad thing. We love it. But it can be difficult sometimes to keep up with all there is to do in this area, hence the caffeination! We’re sure you can relate.
Thankfully, the cats are currently napping and giving us a rather zen-inspired lesson on how to just be. We’re learning a lot from these gatos – especially the youngest, Freddie Mercury. He was a feral cat we recently adopted so he’s rather informative regarding street smarts and survival. Some of the other things they’ve taught or are teaching us?
- Be independent yet open to affection.
- Team up so they can’t tune out; conspiring together really does get you what you want.
- No need to spend a lot of money on fancy things. Cardboard boxes and paper bags are fascinating. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! …and conserve financially, to boot!
- Keep things moving! Sure, everything has its place, but that place isn’t necessarily static. Be a mover and shaker at all levels of your life. FYI: It’s more fun to move things when no one is watching…
- If you can’t get your way, sprawl across the keyboard until you do.
- Be prepared to climb your way to the top by remaining flexible but willing to brandish claws if need be. Oh, and utilizing the curtains. That’s why they’re there.
- Take pause to refuel/recharge. Take a nap! Relish it by finding the best patch of warm, sunny glow. (we would advise that humans modify this lesson – especially to be conducive at work – by trying a caffeine nap!)
- Eat everything on your plate/bowl and be damn well grateful for it – so much so, you meow in appreciation as if to ask for more.
- Oh, and purr like crazy so everyone can read your mind. Purring is, after all, the universal language.
So, with the help of these furballs, we’re taking time out this afternoon to be a bit more introspective. To intentionally hit the pause button.
Tonight will be a different story. May need a dose of C8H10N4O2 for a boost. (By day we’re a sales/marketing maven, but by night – among many things – we’re a thoughtful thespian.)
Anyway, like many, we plan to consume a bit of C2H5OH to (b)ring in the new year.
We often laugh at the arbitrary units of measure we assign to “time” but nonetheless shall be celebrating. We’re down for almost any excuse to party and relish in gratitude for the wonders in our lives past, present and future.
On the note of the New Year, we’d like to point ya to INeedCoffee.Com’s feature on Mike Rohde:
Mike Rohde: Coffee Achiever (INeedCoffee.com).
Note that I may soon be sporting his “sketchtoon renditions of common and unusual coffee drinks” at the office.
Cheers! We raise our mugs (and tonight, our glass) in solidarity! c[_]
